We are able to reduce operating costs, increase site conversions, and improve the customer experience using artificial intelligence methodologies in a virtual chat interface we call SmartAgent®.

Founded in 2005 as a division of USI Technologies, Upsellit is the original artificial intelligence (AI) chat marketing solution. Located in Ventura County, California, Upsellit has grown from a small start-up to an established enterprise in the internet marketing space. Our goal is to continue providing the web's most intelligent automated chat, providing great service to our clients, and maximizing the potential of their online businesses.

Our History:

What is now SmartAgent® began in a dorm room at the UC Berkley campus. Chris Wampler has always been intrigued by artificial intelligence, particularly when it comes to linguistics. With the confusion of colloquialisms, slang, 'web speak', and common misspellings, there's a lot to sort through in order to identify what someone is trying to say. To test his program, Wampler started sending his natural language parsing program into chat rooms to start up conversations with people. At first people were able to call it out as artificial, but after many late nights Wampler soon had a hard time convincing people when it admitted to being AI. These chat room experiments put his technology on the path to becoming the industry's most sophisticated automated chat sales and customer service agent.

We are all very excited to announce our brand new collocation at Pacific Rack in Los Angeles!!! Our new location provides all of the amenities needed to continue serving our rapidly expanding client-base, as well as some new enhancements that will help propel us into the next evolution of chat.

Our new collocation boasts complete server redundancy, server clustering, and automated database trimming, to name a few features. The biggest improvement to the USI Technologies Collocation is the implementation of a new system architecture. Designed from the bottom up, the new system architecture was custom built specifically for our collocation and chat servers.

SmartAgent® automated chat employs artificial intelligence methodologies and natural language parsing with an extensive English language syntax database to distinguish the nuances of conversation and portray a human persona. With the incorporation of USI Technologies Hybrid Chat interface, live agents are able to chat side-by-side with SmartAgent®, jumping in and out of conversations as necessary.

Hybrid Chat connects SmartAgent® to live chat agents in several ways. The groundbreaking feature in this release is the addition of SmartResponse. Unlike anything on the market, SmartResponse utilizes the SmartAgent® engine to listen to live chat conversations and offer suggested responses. If the live agent is distracted or does not reply within a specific amount of time, the suggested response can be automatically inserted into the conversation. SmartResponse allows for site visitors to receive immediate support, while enabling live chat operators to handle more simultaneous conversations.
